First, Amazon US now have the book description for At the Sharpe End up on the book page. It always seems to take longer to get the cover image into the database. Why, I have no idea. A bit is a bit is a bit (as Gertrude Stein never said). Please order lots of copies from there, and help make this a US best seller (even if it’s only for 30 minutes).
Next, Amazon UK now list the book, but it’s “temporarily out of stock”. Give it a day or so and it’ll be available. Or give Amazon UK a kick, and advance-order it or something.
Third, Amazon Japan does not stock it just yet. But, for reasons that don’t really make a lot of sense to me, except that there is a Mr. Sharpe who prognosticates on Wall Street methodologies, the top 5 hits when I come to search there right now include:
- 2 titles on Wall Street (actually relevant to the book);
- 1 on domestic violence (not that relevant, though At the Sharpe End does include references to domestic violence);
- 1 on mental disorders (not relevant to the book – some might say relevant to me, though), and;
- 1 on the fictional Napoleonic military hero
Next, quite a few copies of of At the Sharpe End and a few more of Beneath Gray Skies have been printed, and have started their slow journey over to Japan (direct to me) from the US. You can still order from me (and it will be cheaper than Amazon Japan, and the book will be signed, if you want it to be).
And lastly, Traci of the Pink Cow in Shibuya, Tokyo, has kindly agreed to let the Cow be the venue for a reading/launch event on 26 August. Full details here. Please do take the trouble to register and let us know if you’re coming – the number of places is limited, and since the event includes food, Andy needs to know how much food to make. To quote Arlie Duff: “Y’all Come“.

book marketing offline is quite time consuming but if we talk about online book marketing, it is a different story;.-
